Etymology: Old English, eard, "home, native soil or dwelling", from which the village name Yarnton was derived and Greek, saurus, "lizard."

Locality: Gravel pit near Yarnton, Oxfordshire, England, Southern United Kingdom.

Horizon: Peterborough Member, Oxford Clay Formation, Ancholme Group.

Biostratigraphy: Kosmoceras jason zone.

Age: Middle Callovian Stage, Late Dogger Epoch, Late Middle Jurassic.

Material: Skull and nearly complete skeleton.
