Etymology: In reference to the Honghe Prefecture, where the holotype was localited, and Latin, saurus, "lizard."

Species: longicaudalis XU, REN, ZHAO, LIAO & FENG, 2022
Etymology: Latin, longi, "long" and Latin, caudalis, "tail" refering to its incredibly long tail.

Holotype: IVPP V30380

Locality: Luxi, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China.

Horizon: Second (Upper) Member, Guanling Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Pelsonian, Anisian Stage, Early Mid Triassic Epoch, Early Middle Triassic.

Material: Complete skull and complete skeleton.
