Etymology: Latin, imparilis, "peculiar and unusual".

Holotype: IVPP V19049

Locality: Luoping, Yunnan Province, China.

Horizon: Second (Upper) Member, Guanling Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Pelsonian, Anisian Stage, Early Mid Triassic Epoch, Early Middle Triassic.

Material: Complete skull and nearly complete skeleton lacking tip of tail.
