Etymology: The genus name is derived from the North New Quarry of Majashan, Liujiawa Village, Chaohu City, Anhui Province, China, where the specimen was excavated and Greek, sauros, “lizard”

Horizon: Upper Member, Nanlinghu Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Neospathodus anhuinensis conodont zone, Subcolumbites ammonite zone.

Age: Olenekian, Upper Spathian Stage, Upper Scythian Epoch, Early Triassic.

Material: Fragmentary skeleton.
