Genus: Martinectes CLARK, O’KEEFE & STACK, 2024
Etymology: In honor of Larry Dean Martin, in recognition of his pivotal contributions to our understanding fo the Pierre Shale and its biota, and and Greek, -nectes, "swimmer."

Etymology: In honor of Orville W. Bonner of KUVP.

Locality: Johnson Ranch, 4 miles west of KUHMN 40001, northern Niobrara County, Wyoming.

Horizon: Sharon Springs Member (was referred to the Redbird member), Pierre Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Upper Campanian Stage, Upper Senonian Subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Entire vertebral column, both coracoids, scapulae, clavicles, interclavicle, humeri, proximal portions of flippers, ischia, ilia, both femora and almost entire flipper of each.

KUVP (KUMNH) 40001: Skull, first 3 cervical vertebrae, indeterminate pectrum, left humerus and proximal epipodials, scattered dorsal vertebrae and ribs, both pubes, left ilium, and shaft and proximal end of left femur.
