Genus: Morenosaurus WELLES, 1943
Etymology: In reference to the Moreno Formation of the Panoche Hills, Fresno County, California and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: Moreno lizard.

Species: stocki WELLES, 1943
Etymology: In honor of Dr. Chester Stock.

Holotype: CIT 2802

Locality: CIT 354, 2,400 feet W and 110 feet S of NE cor. Sec. 11, T 14S, R 11E, MDB and M, in the Panoche hills Fresno County, 1 1/2 miles NNW of UC locality V3735, California.

Horizon: Moreno Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, uppermost Senonian subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: A fairly complete skeleton lacking the skull, anterior part of the neck and parts of the paddle.
Note: Found with gastroliths.
Note: 2 anterior cervical dorsal vertebrae are pathologic? (pers. observations).

Locality: CIT 337, 2,500 feet S. and 850 feet W of NE cor. Sec. 15, T 12S, R 11E., MDB and M. in the Panoche Hills, Fresno County, California.

Horizon: Moreno Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, uppermost Senonian subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material:

CIT 2749: A badly eroded skull, good jaws, the condyle, 46 cervical vertebrae, the first pectoral vertebrae, the right pectoral paddle and a scapula of a juvenile.
