Etymology: From Sachica, Boyaca Department, Colombia, locality where the fossil was discovered and Greek, saurus, "lizard."

Etymology: In reference to the vitality that this fossil has given tothe Sachica village since its discovery.

Holotype: MP111209-1

Locality: Vereda Arrayan, Sachica, Boyaca Department, Colombia.

Horizon: Arcillolitas Abigarradas Member, Paja Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Barremian-Aptian Stage, lower Gallic Subepoch, Middle Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: A nearly complete skull and skleton, lacking the dislta part of the right fins.
