Etymology: Greek, stenos, "narrow," Greek, rhyncho, "snout" and Greek, sauros, "lizard"; Narrow snout lizard.

Etymology: In honor of Jorge Munoz who discovered and reported the find of the pliosaurid on his land, and handed VL18052004-1 to the collections of the Museo Geologico Jose Royo y Gomez, Servicico Geologico Colombiano.

Material: Skull, and nearly complete skeleton.
