Etymology: Greek, oura, “tail” and Greek, nautes, “Mariner, sailor”: Tailed mariner.

Etymology:

Holotype: AMNH 5688

Locality: 10 miles west of Amell's Creek, Montana.

Horizon: Fox Hills Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, uppermost Senonian subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Cervical, dorsal, caudal centra and fragments of propodials.
