Etymology: The genus name is derived from "Wumeng Mountain", Panxian County, Guizhou Province, China, where the fossil site is located, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: Latin, delicantus, "not robust, delicate" and Latin, mandibula, "jaw, mandible."

Holotype: GMPKU-P-1210

Locality: Yangjuan Village, Xinmin District, Panxian County, Guizhou Province, China.

Horizon: Upper Member, Guanling Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Nicoraella kockeli conodont biozone.

Age: Middle Pelsonian, Middle Anisian Stage, Lower Mid Triassic Epoch, Lower Middle Triassic.

Material: Nearly complete skull and skeleton.
