Etymology: From Anilius, the genus of the only extant South American aniloid,
and Greek, -oides, "like or like that of."
Holotype: MML-PV181
Locality: Bajo Trapalco, 39°47'02"S, 66°42'17"W, 150 km south-west of Lamarque, Rio Negro Province, northern Patagonia, Argentina.
Horizon: Lower Member, Allen Formation, Malargue Group.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Late Campanian-Early Maastrichtian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.
Material: 1 mid-precloacal vertebra.
