Etymology: From the Latin, referring to the characteristic diastemata between the canine and postcanines in both upper and lower jaws.

Locality: Leeu Kloof 43, Beaufort West District, Western Cape Province, South Africa.
Horizon: Oudeberg Member, Teekloof Formation.
Biostratigraphy: Tropidostoma zone.
Age: Wuchiapingian, Tatarian Age, Lopingian Subepoch, Zechstein Epoch, Late Permian.
Material: Dorsoventrally crushed skull missing part of the right temporal arch and occiput and lower jaws.
