Etymology: 'Agudo' (state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), where the spcimens were found, and Greek, therion, "beast," a common term used for mammals and closely related forms.

Etymology: In honor of Mrs. Valserina Maria Bulegon Gassen, former mayor of the city of Sao Joao do Polesine (State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), for her valuable contribution tin the creation of CAPPA/UFSM.

Holotype: CAPPA/UFSM 0262

Locality: Niemeyer Site, municipality of Agudok, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

Horizon: Candelaria Sequence, Santa Maria Supersequence.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Norian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: A left lower jaw wiht canine and tooth positions for seven postcanines (alveolus of pc1 pluse six funcitona postcanines, pc2-pc7 exposed.

Paratype:

CAPPA/UFSM 0208: A right lower jaw with two poorly preserved incsors, canine, and tooth postions for seven postcaniens, pc1-pc7 exposed.
