Etymology: In honor
of the late Chinese paleontologist C. C. Young, who named and described the
first cynodont known from China.
Holoytype: PKUP V3007
Locality: Beishan Locality, Quarry-3, Beishan Hills, 41°56'739"N, 96°32'023"E, northern Gansu Province, China.
Horizon: Hongyanjiang Formation.
Biostratigraphy: Equivalent to the Cynognathus zone
Age: Spathian Stage, uppermost Scythian Epoch to Anisian Stage, lowermost Mid Triassic Epoch, Early to Middle Triassic.
Material: Well preserved skull.
