Genus: Impumlophantsi MATLHANGA, BENOIT & RUBIDGE, 2024
Etymology: Genus name meaning 'low nose' in isiXhosa in reference to the low nasal crest that diagnoese this taxon.

Species: boonstrai MATLHANGA, BENOIT & RUBIDGE, 2024
Etymology: In honor of Lieuwe D. Boonstra, who first described the specimen and sepnt most of his life exploring the palaeobiology of the Tapanincephalus AZ.

Note: Boonstra (1965) referred this specimen as a gorgonopsian.

Holotype: SAM-PK-K12118

Locality: Palmietfontein portion (Plot 57) of Kruidfontein farm, Prince Albert District, Western Cape Province, South Africa.

Horizon: Abrahamskraal Formation, Beautfort Group.

Biostratigraphy: Diictodon-Styracocephalus Subzone, Tapinocephalus Assemblage zone.

Age: Wuchiapingian, Tatarian Age, Lopingian Subepoch, Zechstein Epoch, Late Permian.

Material: Almost complete preorbital region of a skull with an occluded lower jaw, pelvis with portions of the vertebral column.
