Etymology: Greek, kataigidos, "thunderstorm," and Greek, odon, "tooth." Thundrstorm alludes to the name of the type locality.

Etymology: Latin, venetus, "blue." Blue referes to Blue Mesa member and Blue Tank at PEFO.

Holotype: PEFO 43755

Locality: PFV 456, Thunderstorm Ridge, Petrified Forest National Park, Apache County, Arizona.

Horizon: Upper part of teh Blue Mesa Member, Chinle Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Norian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Anterior end of a right dentary, including i1, alveolus c1,pc1, and pc2.

Paratype:

PEFO 43838: Anterior end of a left dentary, including i1, alveolus, broken base of c1, pc1 alveolus and brokend base of pc2.
