Etymology: Greek, para, "beside, near, by" + Burnetia (The first named
member of this group).
Species: sneeubergensis SMITH, RUBIDGE & SIDOR, 2006
Etymology: In reference to the Sneeuberg Mountains, East
Cape Province, South Africa which tower above the
type locality.
Holotype: SAM-PK-K10037
Locality: Walplass Farm, Aberdeen District, South 32°13'23.4, East 23°48'53.2", East Cape Province, South Africa.
Horizon: Teekloof Formation, Beauford Group.
Biostratigraphy: Tropidostoma zone (Tropidostoma-Endothidon Assemblage zone KEYSER, 1979, SACS, 1980, Tropidostoma microtrema zone KEYSER & SMITH, 1977-78, Lower Cistecephalus zone KITCHING, 1970, 1977, Endothiodon zone, WATSON, 1914).
Age: Tatarian Age, Lopingian Subepoch, Zechstein Epoch, Late Permian.
