Etymology: Greek, simos, "snub-nosed, flattend," Greek, rhin (rhis), "snout" and Latin -ella, diminutive endine (f): A small animal with a very deep flattened snout.

Etymology: In honor of Father of South African paleontology, Andrew Geddes Bain (1897-1864).

Locality: Weltevreden, Gouph, Beaufort West District, Western Cape Province, South Africa.

Age: Early Tatarian age, Guadelupian Stage, Middle Zeichstein Epoch, Middle Permian.
