Etymology: Navajo, Ch'e'e'h digha'hii, "turtle," in reference to the locality of the type species on Navajo Tribal Lands. We are very greatful to Steve Semken for help with teh Navajo language.

Species: hutchisoni GAFFNEY, TONG & MEYLAN, 2006
Etymology: In honor of Dr. Howard Hutchison, for his lifelong contribution to vertebrate paleontology; and who recognized this skull as a bothremydid after the senor author had misidentified it as a trionychid.

Holotype: KUVP 14765 (Field no. MJW 45).

Locality: "New Mexico #35 Hunters (sic) Wash" (label), NW 1/4, SW 1/4, sec. 34, T24N, R13W, San Juan County, New Mexico.

Horizon: Hunter Wash Member, Lowermost part of the Kirtland Formation.
