Etymology: Latin, tener, "delicate," Latin testa, "shell"; in reference to the thin-shelled nature of this taxon.

Locality: NMMNH locality 001, Revuelto Creek, Quay County, east-central New Mexico.

Age: Revueltian, Early Norian Substage, Early Norian Epoch, Middle Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Partial skeleton including the central portion of the carapace, left hypoplastron, a posterior costal with ribs, portions of the bridge, a neck spine and isolated osteoderms.
