Etymology: In reference to the Tenere Desert, Niger and Latin, ins, "from."

Holotype: MNN GAD28

Locality: Field locality 94, Gadufaou, apparently 125 kms east of Agadez, 16°26'16.3N, 9°7'3.6E, Illumeden Basin, Niger.

Horizon: GAD level 5, Elrhaz Formation, Tegama Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian-Albian Stage, Early Gallic Subepoch, Early Cretaceous Epoch, Middle Cretaceous.

Material: A nearly complete articulated skull and postcranial skeleton lacking the left posterolateral corner of the carapace, the right forelimb distal to the humerus, and the left hind limb.
