Species: semitestacea LI, WU, RIEPPEL, WANG & ZHAO, 2008
Etymology: Latin, testaceus (-um), "of animals covered with shell" and latin, semi, "half."

Holotype: IVPP V 13240

Locality: Guanling, Guizhou Province, Southwestern China.

Horizon: Wayao Member, Falang Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Carnian Stage, Lower Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Skull and skeleton of a nearly complete specimen.

Note: Both humeri shows avascular necrosis (ROTHSCHILD & NAPLES, 2015)

Paratype: IVPP V 1320: Fragmentary skeleton and nearly complete skeleton.

Referred material:

IVPP V 15653: 3 dorsal vertebrae, ribs and neural plates.
