Etymology: Named after the Ordos Basin, Inner Mongolia, in which the type locality is found,and Greek, emys, "turtle."

Species: leios BRINKMAN & PENG, 1993
Etymology: Greek, leios, "smooth," in reference to the absence of ornamentation on the carapace.

Holotype: IVPP V9534-1

Locality: Loalonghuoze locality, 53 km west of Hanggin Qi, Ordos Basin, Inner Mongolia, People’s Republic of China.

Horizon: Luahandong Formation, Zhidan Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete skeleton. The anterior right corner of the shell, head, neck, and forelimbs were exposed and are represented by eroded fragments, the remainder of the skeleton was reserved in place. The skull is represented by the right parietal, right otic capsule, left squamosal, right and left maxilla, the dorsal plate of the right prefrontal, the basioccipital, and the basispheonid. a partial right lower jaw includes the articular, prearticular, surangular, angular, and posterior end of the dentary.
