Genus: Peckemys LYSON & JOYCE, 2009b
Etymology: In reference to Fort Peck, Montana, where the type specimein was found, and Greek, emys, "pond turtle."

Species: brinkman LYSON & JOYCE, 2009b
Etymology: In honor of Dr. Donald Brinkman, who has written numerous papers on baenid morphology and systematics and who recognized the Maastrichtian representatives fo Plesiobaena belong to a species distinct from Plesiobaena antiqua. The species epithet hs here formed and used explicitly as a nown in apposition, as is permited by article 31.1 of the ICZN.
